India has been in the news recently because of their ban on TikTok, an app that allows users to create short videos and share them with the world. The government claims that TikTok encourages lewd behavior and contributes to incidents of child exploitation, which has led to its being temporarily blocked in the country. There are ways around this block, though, so don’t be deterred from trying out this fun app if you live in India! Read on to learn how to run TikTok in India using these methods and keep your account up and running!

• New ways to log into TikTok

Users have discovered a number of workarounds and hacks that may allow them to log into TikTok without getting their app banned from the India-based iOS App Store. This can be done by simply using a VPN or changing one's geo-location settings on Android.

One Reddit user posted instructions for TikTok using a VPN. They explained that You need the latest Android (or unrooted) phone, run an Instagram Story through the story section inside Tik Tok and send it. The next steps involved downloading TunnelBear VPN on your device, logging in, and changing your location to Canada by clicking 'Canada'. The problem is that Instagram will notify you when they know what you're doing and change you back to the original location. To get around this, follow these steps: Log out of your current social media accounts and re-login with different credentials before opening TikTok with the new IP address. Now open up Instagram Stories again, go to filters and use the same filter as before. Go back to TikTok then click on the filter button again to activate other filters.

• Use a VPN

First and foremost, if you live or work in India, DO NOT create a TikTok account. As soon as you do, your internet connection will be blocked or at the very least throttled and/or capped. To ensure that this doesn't happen, use a VPN before opening the app. A VPN is free (but some paid services are faster) and will provide you with the necessary IP address to create an account without interference from Indian authorities. They also encrypt your traffic so even if they can see what you're doing on TikTok, they won't know what it means. Once you have the VPN set up, follow these steps 1. Download TikTok and sign in using the email address associated with your desired profile name 

2. Log out of TikTok (don't worry-this just clears any cookies left over from signing in) 

3. Switch to another browser like Chrome or Firefox, log back into TikTok using the same email address and password you used for the first login, then log out again 

4. Log back into TikTok on your mobile device

• Turn off GPS on your phone

To maintain your TikTok account, it's important to turn off the GPS on your phone before accessing TikTok. This will allow you to get a warning before they ban you and let you regain access once the GPS is turned back on. You'll also want to edit out any videos that have hashtags in them or images of religious icons so as not to be caught and given a strike. Finally, don't use the word Tik Tok in any captions for videos that don't relate back to using the app itself. While these are just some tips, there are other ways to avoid being banned from TikTok. Be sure to check out their terms of service if you're unsure! There are two different types of accounts: users and creators. Users create content while creators upload content themselves. They can only issue one type of account per person which means users can't make a creator account with another email address.

• App updates can be switched off

If you're not connected to the internet, you can still access TikTok by doing the following: 

1. Log out of your TikTok account and change the date on your device to earlier than December 2019. 2. Sign back into your account. 3. Download an older version of the app which is not compatible with TikTok updates. 4. Once you have downloaded the older version, open it and log into your account again. 5. Change the date on your device back to normal (within December 2019). 6. You should now be able to use TikTok without any connection problems!

• Close unused accounts if needed

In light of the Indian government’s crackdown on TikTok, this past month, the need for information on how to keep an account running and unblocked has come up. To do so, first, be aware that by following any of these suggestions you are taking responsibility for yourself and not blaming the company if they happen to find out. Second, it's important not to abuse any of these tricks, or else you could risk going too far and being blocked anyway. Finally, be vigilant about deleting old posts if you're trying to show a certain period during which the account was open and untouched. The more recent posts should remain, but there is no reason to have multiple years' worth of videos saved. For those who want to close their accounts altogether, it can't hurt either way: closing an account means you won't receive notifications from the app and thus won't have access from within the app itself.
